Erica Chalfant is a Production Engineer for SM Energy in the Permian Basin. She graduated with a Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Degree from West Virginia University in 2019, with internship experiences at Entegra Energy Solutions in Lost Creek, WV and Alta Mesa Resources in Houston, TX. Her professional career began in Midland, TX as an Artificial Lift Field Engineer at Schlumberger, where she gained extensive knowledge on installation and optimization of ESPs. She then moved into an Application Engineering position within SLB, allowed further exposure to operations and design. Erica moved to Point Energy Partners as a Production Engineer and was tasked with improving IPs in the Delaware Basin. Currently at SM Energy, she has a thorough profile of horizontal and vertical wells that cover most major forms of artificial lift. She served on the 2023 SPE Gulf Coast Chapter ESP Symposium Committee.
